I am so excited to introduce myself to you. I am Sandy Engels, and I am a lifelong resident of South Louisiana. I am married to my best friend, Jae. We live in Ethel, with our 2 college age children, Ethan, and Amanda, and 2 dogs.

I was introduced to essential oils in 2003 through a one day Aromatherapy seminar, where we learned about several different essential oils. I immediately fell in love with Lavender. This was the first time I had ever encountered a true lavender. Most of the commercial lavenders just did not smell like I knew they should. I also learned some really cool uses for essential oils, from healing to natural household cleaners. At this seminar, we were shown how to make Melt and Pour soap. I knew this was something I wanted to explore more.

I began making Melt and Pour for my family. The children were 11 and 8 at the time, and were so excited that they wanted to help, which they did. We then began making gifts for their friends and teachers. I liked the concept of making my own soap, but knew there was another way to really “make” my own soap. So I began to explore the other options. After much research, I began the process of making soap from scratch.

My first batch of soap came out very well. We even did the “tongue test” to check the soap for saponification. We all got a “shock”, and laughed. That was early 2004 and I have been making hand blended soap ever since. I love to use essential oils, as well as fragrance oils. My favorite is anything with Lavender.

Soap making has become a stress reliever for me. I get so caught up in the process of choosing the oils, butters, clays, essential oils and fragrance oils.

In addition to hand blended soaps, I have made lotions, creams for pain discomfort, foot creams, foaming milk baths, bath fizzies, facial toners, sugar scrubs, room sprays, body sprays, and laundry powder.
