Shea Butter has been shown to be a superb moisturizer.
Shea Butter is rich in Vitamins A and E. Shea butter helps to maintain the skin and keep it healthy. It is particularly helpful for sun damaged skin and may be helpful for prevention of premature wrinkles and facial lines. Shea butter is used for dry scalp and dry brittle hair.
Shea butter has been used in Africa for many centuries. It is produced from the fruit of the Shea Tree also known as Karite. This tree grows in the western region of Africa including Ghana.
Fruit of the Shea tree is collected and the Shea nuts are removed. The nuts go through a laborious process entirely by hand and usually by women in small co-ops to create the Shea butter.
The resulting Shea butter has a smooth soft paste texture and may be pale yellow, white or a greenish color depending on how it is processed.
Unrefined shea butter retains all of the of the natural benefits and is not chemically processed.
Shea butter is a great skin moisturizer. It can be used on stretch marks, cracked or dry heels or elbows, dry skin, chapped lips, minor burns. African women use Shea Butter on their hair.
Our Shea Butter is a soft pale creamy yellow color and has the characteristic nutty fragrance of pure unrefined shea butter.
We use pure unrefined shea butter in our soap and some of our other products. We believe it has excellent properties for skin care.
